The beach has a very wide expanse of white sands contrasting the beautiful blue waters of the Arabian Sea. The beach is usually crowded on weekends and on chosen religious days. On week days it’s more of a relaxation space within the city. Good place for a family outing.
The sunset view is captivating on Shangumugham beach. Other attraction of the beach is the 35m long sculpture of a mermaid called, ‘MatsyaKanyaka’ by Kerala’ s renowned sculptor KanjaiKunjiraman.
